Du Juan trained to be a dancer when she was young, but according to articles/ interviews of her, she just wouldn't stop growing tall, so she became a model. (She also won some beauty contest thing.)
And bam! everyone fell in love with her after the high-profile and very first Vogue China cover, also starring Gemma Ward. (Remember back when the cover was first released, I said she was my fav Chinese model on the cover?)
Anyways, so since then, she's been a staple of Vogue China. Also, she's started to appear on runways and this season, quite a few campaigns. Du Juan's FW06 ad portfolio includes:
Gap -She doesn't really look like her in the ad, but it's her. I suppose this is Gap's attempt to reach out to more people, although I'm not sure the whole Gap using low-profile high-fashion models campaign worked.
Roberto Cavalli -I love Du in this campaign. So dramatic and cool.
Swarovski -Sensual, (where is the jewelry on her?)
Louis Vuitton -Another loveable campaign, this one featuring Du and Raquel. Not that you can really see Du's face in the ad, but still. She's like a Vuitton bag hanger in this ad! I wasn't so sure about it at first, but it grew on me!
YSL -Du's outfit here isn't exactly my fav, but it's impressive she managed to get high fashion ads at all. Actually, the contrast between the background and her outfit is pretty cool.Although according to thefashionspot forums, Du Juan so far, does not seem to have any SS07 campaigns yet. Let's hope she's not a one-hit-wonder!
In spring/summer, there was Dior Mail, a palette consisting of a bronzer and lip gloss. Hm, ok, I suppose this is more of a packaging thing than an accessory. But I still don't think it's a useful beauty product for people to actually buy.
Moving on to now, Dior just launched a charm lip gloss locket. According to its description on Neimanmarcus.com, you can wear it as a braclet or attach it to your handbag. Considering lip gloss goes sort of yucky with heat, you probably shouldn't wear it as a braclet. The only thing I can say about makeup that is packaged in a cute way, is that they remind me of the disgusting makeup that kids play with, and the makeup inside just automatically feels cheap to me.
This summer is all about the white dresses. The dress on the left is by Banana Republic. You'll like it if you like the classic and pretty look. The cute shirt-bubble dress on the right is by Mango.
I put these two dresses, by Guess (left) and Sunner (right), together because they somehow remind me of LA and a bit of Paris Hilton. I think the Sunner tube dress is a fantastic variation of the typical, boring, Juicy Couture-looking tube dresses.
Remember the shirt dresses? This black one is by Lux (Urban Outfitters.) It's so nice and simple. And the black material around the waist makes the dress so much more flattering!
This dress is basically the same as the black one above, but I just wanted to show everyone a trendy way to wear these dresses -Wrap a oh-so-fashionable patent leather belt around the wasit, and put on some footless tights (love them!)
This pretty, blue Free People dress has got daisy prints all over -definitely for the girly girls!
Another super affordable dress from Urban Outfitters. I'm not totally sure how it would look in real life, but it looks decent enough in the photos. This kind of dress is quite popular this season; it's very babydoll-ish. (Please make sure your makeup isn't too cutsie though!)
The dress on the left is by Free People. Barneys Girl and I have both tried it on and LOVED it. Unfortunately the shop ran out of our sizes, but we're still daydreaming about it! The printed sundress on the right is by Top Shop. I love the sharp blue colour and the style of the dress itself.
For something casually-sophisticated and cheerful, I like this Miss Selfridge Lollipop Ruffle dress.
At first glance, this Free People dress is very daytime, but the shiny silk and pretty delicate flower patterns make it OK for night time too.
And to really start getting into the fall mood, a grey dress is the best thing to start with. This one is by As U Wish from the Nordtrom Junior Dept.
The old magazines I am talking about are mainly British Vogues from the past two years, Teen Vogues since it started and a few random issues of magazines I deem as ‘special’: the last ever issue of The Face, a few Japanese Seventeen (not that I know how to read Japanese), two thick September issues of US Vogue, the first ever issue of Chinese Vogue, and the Gemma-edited issue of Australian Vogue of course.
I’m usually not very sentimental about old things that I don’t use anymore. If something is totally useless and doesn’t represent a huge phase of my life, I would throw it out without thinking much. I am planning to keep the special issues of magazines and Teen Vogues, but I am still debating about the old British Vogues. I mean, it’s unlikely I’m going to be rereading those any time soon. But I’m really hesitant to get rid of them because the editorials (and some ads) are just SO pretty. Remember the July 2005 ones with 
The Devil Wears Prada is THE movie I most look foward to this summer. Actually, it's the only movie I have looked foward to in a looong time. I still remember how excited I was when I started to read the book. It was supposed to be funny and allowed readers to get an insight to how the fashion magazine world was like. At the beginning, the book really was quite cute. But as I read on, all I could think of was: oh please, it's not like anyone forced the job on you. Please stop whining! So by the end of the book, it was safe to say I found the book annoying.
But nevertheless, a funny movie that is about the fabulous fashion magazine world and pretty clothes got me excited. Afterall, the only other magazine-related movie I could think of is How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, (which is one of my favourite movies of all time.) Also there was so much hype around this movie. Usually, movies with this much hype turn out with poor reviews. But so far, all the reviews I have heard were positive.
Basically, it's saying that yes, Wintour is tough and not the easiest boss to work for, but she is amazingly successful and does her part to support and further the fashion industry. She's definately one of those successful female figures I look up to.
For something more subtle and different from the classic plastic frames, there are these Toreadior aviators with swarovski crystals on the side.
I know the heading is "Dior" shades, but I can't resist sticking these Chanel shades in. I am not so hot about the shape though, maybe they have a different style. But I just adore the quillt and camelia flower on the side, its so pretty!
I'm sure all of you would have seen this ad in magazines by now. I quite like this ad -it's very Dior in a stylish, casual streetwear sort of way. The makeup on the model is basically everything pink. Thank goodness for the dark layer of eyeliner and shadows around her eyes that makes her look sexy girly instead of bubblegum-pop girly.

I couldn't resist talking about the Laura Mercier Liquid Crystal Lip Glaces too. When I first saw the Liquid Crystals, I thought it was such a weird thing! In bottle, the lip gloss looked like a whirl of psychodelic colors, so what would it look if it was on the lips? Out of curiousity and boredom (I was waiting for my facial appointment in Space NK,) I tried on one of the three Liquid Crystals and was so AMAZED! This lip glace is seriously shiny. The amount of color pigments is just right. The colors are quite bright so it's more of a summer lip color than winter. A little bit of warning though, I read in customer reviews that it has terrible staying power. I didn't buy it because I still had a few bottles of unfinished lip glosses at home, but maybe this summer......
Mary Kate’s Balenciaga ankle boots (which are rumoured to be around 8 inches tall,) are possibly this season’s more controversial fashion choice. Gossip-mongers in majority seem to hate the boots. Personally I love them. I loved the Balenciaga FW06 show and I loved those boots, although I can understand that those boots are not for the fashion-faint-hearted. MK’s style is often controversial, but very stylish: stylish as in creative and personal, but not preppy or the American immaculate-looking type of stylish.
Overall I thought they looked really cute, young and back in the days at the beginning when they were starting out. Their wigs are so quaint and their dances were really so upbeat and fun.Its amazing how make-up, hair and clothes can change people. As the movie proceeded one can actually tell how they've matured from the young hopeful dreamettes to the dream girls.
