Jessie Randall for Target

Target's newest designer collaboration is with Jessie Randall of Loeffler Randall. I am always on the look out for ballet flats and these metallic ones are adorable. The matching bags are cute to. Available at Target stores December 30th.

Juicy Couture FW06

Remember back in the days when the trendy people of LA worshiped Juicy Couture and wore its tracksuits everday everywhere? Think hard -surprisingly, this was only about 5 years ago. Fast foward to today, if you visit many big department stores, you'll notice that Juicy has its own big corners, and they don't only sell those terrible tracksuits anymore. Juicy is defintely one of the fastest growing fashion brands I could think of in the past ten years.
Here are some pretty Juicy stuff from this season:

This white tank is simple in a not too simple way. I love it's versatility. Just think, you can wear it day and night to many different activities.

Juicy has always had knit sweaters like this one, but I'm glad to see that the designers finally got rid of Juicy's signature dog and replaced it with an elegant-looking 'J'.
While I personally wouldn't wear this, it does look pretty. Looking at all the frills and the second silk layer at the bottom of the dress, it's nice to see the Juicy designers are actually putting some thoughts into the designers. (Remember how Juicy clothes used to all look the same?)
Fantastic casual clutch. This would totally be great to carry to dinner and would be perfect with blue denim.
The Sophie Studded leather Tote is actually what inspired me to write this blog. I really like how it's feels a bit edgy and very practical. And even though it is no where near the standard of Balenciaga's Motorcycle bag, I still like it... although maybe I would get rid of the charms (the key).
And this season, Juicy has a new high-end line called Couture Couture. I admit I was very skeptical about it at first, but after browsing through some of its clothes, I was quite impressed. While some of the designs are still 'inspired' by other high-end designers, the clothes are still really nice. Two fabulous examples are the cashmere cardigan and pleated tank in the photo above. Unfortunately, the prices are even more impressive.

John Tucker Must Die

I usually don't like going to the cinemas, but there seems to be a lot more interesting movies this summer than the previous few. And since I had nothing much to do when I was visiting my relatives in San Francisco, I actually went to the cinema twice. After my cousin's gay friend claimed that John Tucker Must Die is better than Mean Girls, my cousin and I decided to give it a try. Warning: Spoiler below.

The story starts with the king of high school, John Tucker (Jesse Metcalfe,) secretly dating three girls from different cliques. The three girls are (from left to right in the picture below): Carrie (Arielle Kebbel), the super, high-tech, overachiever; Beth (Sohpia Bush), the animal activist slut; and Heather (Ashanti), the head cheerleader.

But trouble starts when the enemies find out by chance they were all dating John Tucker, and Kate (Brittany Snow), who is the main female character and narrator, accidently gets pulled into the mess. She suggests the three girls get even, and the girls decide to makeover Kate and use her to break John Tucker's heart.

And so the plan starts: Kate, with the help and plotting of the other girls of course, manages to get John Tucker to really like her.

The guy that Kate actually liked is her chemistry partner -John Tucker's younger bro.

And the story ends with a loveable happy ending: the four girls become real friends!

This is seriously one of those high school clique stories. The story is cliche and not exactly high IQ material, but it's very funny and will make you laugh out loud. Brittany Snow did a good job at being the awkward Kate. I think what I liked about it was that the girls all came together for a purpose and achieved it. The jokes and funny bits were all very obvious, which I liked. My cousin however thought the dialogue wasn't as witty as Mean Girl's dialogue. So if you're in the mood for just something ditzy and funny, give this movie a try!

The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency

Ever since I got cable, my apartment mate and I have been obsessed with one show: The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency!

I first caught a glimpse of it this January when we sat down and watched a marathon of it. At first it was just something to watch while we had lunch, but then we got hooked and we couldn't stop! We knew she had quite a character from ANTM, but who knew it was quite this big? She jumped into a fountain in a one of a kind, really quite gorgeous, couture gown. She made her models sing christmas carols to strangers in the cabins in christmasy UNDERWEAR, which is both hilarious and scary, because if I opened my door and a bunch of half naked people were singing Christmas carols at me I'd freak out. Although I must say, they were a rather good looking bunch of half naked people. . . . Oh and her version of the 12 Days of Christmas was completely shameless and one cannot help but want to wince and laugh atthe same time. One modeling agency, two giant breasts, three former husbands, four Italian suits, five naked men. . . . . . .LOL. For a 53 year old, she really isn't doing too badly, although many pictures and stuff are SO photoshopped (i.e. the cover. . . ).

Another thing I like about this show is that there aren't just female models, but male models too. It definitely adds something more to the norm. And they look soo hot, esp when one of them was pouring water down his half naked body the other day for a photoshoot. Plus, the whole situation is actually real and the models are actually getting somewhere, unlike some shows where they put models in unrealistic situations for ratings and tell them they're being trained for the real world *cough cough*. We actually get to know what the modeling world is really like, which is nice.

Anyways, from the feedback I'm getting from my girlfriends, it doesn't seem like its just me whose obsessed with the show. So if you haven't given it a try yet, check out season 2 every wednesday night 10/9C. And when you get hooked, you can join me and catch up with season 1 on their DVD which was released just yesterday.

Happy Procrastination everyone!

Military Jackets

Inspired by the Balenciaga AW 05-06 runway, military styled jackets are all the rage. Their structural and rigid cutting instantly gives you a very well put together look as blazers do but with more of a twist.

I mean, who wouldn't want to look as ladylike and french chic as this model here, on the Balenciaga runway?

My top pick for military jacket is this one from Zara. The buttons and detailed structure gives it the military flair while its relative simple cutting and color makes it that much easier to match. With a flared flowing skirt maybe to counter the structure?

And this one here from Intuition is awesome too, because while the button gives it a military touch, the velvet material, the collar and feminine cutting can easily pull off the Victorian old english look as well! 2 trends in one jacket-what a bargain!

For those in colder climates (like moi) and can no longer wear thin short jackets, here are some more wintery coats to keep us warm and stylish. This double breasted one from BCBG with the round buttons is great (well maybe not green, go for the black one). Whats great about the jackets mentioned above is that they are so subtley military that you'll probably be able to wear it again next season!

But if you want to go all out for this trend, you cannot beat this denim cropped jacket from Top Shop. It practically SHOUTS military. And then there is this wool/cashmere/nylon coat here from Ll Collezioni at Bloomingdales, making a relatively more subtle statement

Juicy Couture Accessories FW05

Usually I think Juicy bags are... well, ugly and poorly designed. Seriously, only very unstylish preppy kids carry those candy-colored bags. This season, Juicy is going way out to create new accessories. And the suprising thing is that some of these designs are actually stylish!

The bags and jewelry designs have been highly improved -I see bags without 'Juicy Couture' plastered all over them; I see jewelry that can be worn with non-preppy outfits; and most importantly, I see some great accessory designs that are youthful, casual yet still chic without being tacky.
This is such a cool, everyday bag. It reminds me of Kate Spade bags but in a more casual, trendy way.

OK, so this bag is pink. Very pink. But its perfect for a casual dinner out. The golden chains are much classier than typical Juicy stuff.

This Juicy clutch is actually elegant! It still says 'Juicy' on it but in a subtle manner. I can totally picture someone wearing a dress for a nice night out holding this clutch.

Dangly sparkly horseshoe earrings. (Horseshoes are just so trendy nowaday.) Perfect with the little black dress.

Love this ring. It's like a mini belt on your fingers! And the platinum-gold color is just perfect for next year's trend!

The Overrated Juicy Tube

I know, the Lancome Juicy Tube has been around for AGES now. I was not enamored of it and had not been struck with an incredible need to own it unlike some people I know, when it first came out. But after so many raving reviews from everyone around me (both online and in real life) I finally gave into the urge and bought the new Juicy Tubes: Mood in Glamorous. My reason is either THAT or the prettiness of the tube and their new summer color ad. I'm not sure if they have it in the US, because I found this on the Lancome Japan site, so it might just be a Asia thing (like their Lancome Homme). Anyhow, its part of their Summer 2005 collection and it has a bit of a sweet cherry taste to it.

But anyway, I'm sure all Juicy Tubes are the same with slight variations. My verdict? I am not impressed. There is a little color, it gives my lips a bit of shine, is slightly less sticky then my Mac lipgloss and the slanted applicator idea is a stroke of marketing genius. I guess its good for everyday use. But overall its not all what everyone is making it out to be. I mean, I can definitely do without it and still be happy with my MAC clear lipglass.
