The event that gathered together the most beautiful women of America - Miss America 2008 show televised live, took place in the popular Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino Saturday, January 26.
This year they chose Pamela-Anderson-like blonde, a 19 years old Broadway star Kirsten Haglund, Miss Michigan 2007, of Michigan's Farmington Hills.
The Miss America 2008 title winner is studying Fine Arts in the University of Cincinatti. The girl won 50, 000 dollars scholarship and year of travel that comes with the crown (apart from the other duties and benefits that come with the title).
Kirsten demonstrated to the public her perfect body appearing in a sexy black-gold bikini. Moreover she impressed people with her rendition of 'Over The Rainbow'.
During the whole 2008 year the new Miss America will be traveling around the country to tell people about different social and health problems. Also together with Children's Miracle Network she will be involved in charity work helping sick children.
An interesting fact about the winner is that her mother is an active volunteer and her grandmother competed for the crown as Miss Michigan 1944.
The first runner up was Miss Indiana Nicole Elizabeth Rash and the second one went to Miss Washington Elyse Umemoto.
