Sage Green Wedding Accent

The color palette that you choose for your wedding will have a major impact on the overall atmosphere of the event. It can be festive, or preppy, or formal, or beachy, depending on the colors used for the décor. If you are looking for a color that is soft and elegant, but not a pastel or an ivory, sage green could be the perfect choice.

Sage green is a soft green with a gray undertone. It happens to be one of the most universally flattering colors out there, which makes it a great choice for your bridesmaids. Sage green looks absolutely beautiful, whether it is done in satin, chiffon, organza, or shantung. Because it is not a green with a strong yellow undertone, even bridesmaids with more sallow skin tones will look fantastic in sage.

You will naturally want your bridesmaids to have the perfect finishing touches for their dresses. If you like everything to really match, of course you can choose shoes, wraps, and bags in the same color as the dresses, but there are other great options. Sage combines particularly well with silver, pewter, or gray. Silver evening sandals would look great with a sage bridesmaid dress, and would be a shoe that your attendants could very easily wear again. When you are looking for the jewelry gifts for each bridesmaid, keep that same idea in mind. Bridesmaid jewelry gifts that are handcrafted of gray pearls would be gorgeous with a sage dress.

The bride can also use a hint of sage in her ensemble. One of the nicest ways to use the color is as a sash around the waist of her wedding gown. It is a nice soft color to use against white or ivory, that won't make too strong a contrast in black and white photographs. If you prefer to stick with an all white gown, then a silk chiffon sage sash would be perfect.

Sage also combines well with colors such as lavender. Lavender colored roses would be lovely bouquets for your bridesmaids. If you use sage green tablecloths at the receptions, think about centerpieces created from the same lavender roses, with a few richer purple flowers thrown in for depth and contrast.

Another very pretty sage green wedding accent is sheer organza ribbon. This soft colored ribbon can be used in so many ways. You can use it to tie around the programs or the favors, or even as a bow on the invitations. A wide sage organza ribbon would be very pretty tied around the chairs at the reception, and you will certainly want to use some of it on the bouquets, as well. It is not a difficult ribbon color to find, so you might find that you will save money ordering it yourself than asking your florist to supply it.

Your wedding cake would be very pretty in a sage green. A great idea would be a sage green fondant with an ivory scroll design. It would be a fitting dessert for a formal wedding. If your reception is more of a garden party style, then a sage green cake with lavender, pink, and yellow sugar flowers would be a sweet ending.

There are so many colors that you can choose to accent your wedding attire and décor that it can be hard to narrow it down to just one or two. If you are looking for a color that is not too trendy, and yet always in style, then you can't go wrong with sage green for your wedding.
